The Korean
Ophthalmological
Society (KOS), whose members are composed of Korean board-certified ophthalmologists, ophthalmology residents, and physicians practicing ophthalmology-related medical care, published the journal to promote advances in ophthalmology, mutual friendship among the members of the society, and the member's commitment to continued research and development. The first issue of the Journal of The Korea Ophthalmological Society was published in 1958.
The journal is the official journal of KOS published each month related to ocular diseases and basic research in ophthalmology.

Submitted papers are peer-reviewed and evaluated before publication by experienced specialists in each subspecialty. This monthly journal is distributed to members of KOS, medical schools, libraries, and many other institutions at home and abroad to promote the development of Korean ophthalmology and academic exchanges among KOS members as well as international society members.
The ultimate goal of KOS is to make contributions to the well-being of Korean people and the human race in general by improving the science and technology in ophthalmology.
