| 중등도 이상의 안검염 치료를 위한 intense pulsed light (IPL)가 임상양상 및 matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) 의 발현에 미치는 효과 분석 |

목적 : To evaluate the effects of the intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment on clinical outcomes and the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in moderate and severe meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) patients. 방법 : This retrospective study was conducted was conducted on moderate and severe MGD patients (32 eyes of 16 subjects) who underwent three sessions of IPL treatment at 2 weeks interval. We evaluated tear film break-up time (TBUT), corneal and conjunctival fluorescein staining scores, biomicroscopic examination of lid margins and meibomian glands, Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire, and the expression of MMP-9 using the InflammaDry before initiating IPL treatment and two weeks after the final session. 결과 : There were significant clinical improvements in TBUT (p < 0.001), lid margin abnormality score (p = 0.006 for upper lid, p =0.004 for lower lid), lid margin thickness (p = 0.002 for upper and lower lid), meibum color (p = 0.015 for lower lid), meibum consistency (p = 0.003 for lower lid), meibum gade (p = 0.003), OSDI (p = 0.001). The rate of positive result for MMP-9 was significantly decreased from 73.3% to 46.7% (p = 0.003) before the initial session and 2 weeks after the third session of IPL treatment. 결론 : We suggest that three sessions of IPL treatment is effective for moderate and severe MGD with regard to clinical outcomes and MMP-9 expression. |
