카본 블랙 미세먼지 노출로 인한 안구 표면 손상에 대한 안구세안액(Eyebon-W®)의 보호 효과

목적 : Exposure to airborne particulate matter can induce ocular surface damage and inflammation. We evaluated whether the use of an eye wash solution may improve the ocular surface damage induced by airborne carbon black (CB) exposure.
방법 : Sprague Dawley rats were exposed to ambient CB for 2 hours twice daily for 5 days. Ocular surface staining scores and tear lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) activity were measured to evaluate ocular surface damage. The tear lactoferrin, histamine, and matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP-9) were also measured. The expression of interleukin (IL)-4, 17, and interferon (IFN)-γ in the anterior segment of the eyeball were measured by western blot analysis. A commercial eye wash solution (Eyebon-W®) was used twice daily for 5 days, and the extent of ocular surface damage was evaluated.
결과 : After airborne CB exposure, the median ocular surface staining scores, and LDH activity were significantly increased. The expression of IL-4, IFN-γ in the anterior segment of the eyeball and the concentration of tear MMP-9 and histamine were also significantly increased. Eyebon-W® eye wash treatment markedly improved ocular surface damage, including with decreases in corneal staining score and the expression of IL-4 in the anterior segment of the eyeball as well as tear LDH, MMP-9, and histamine release.
결론 : Exposure to airborne CB induced ocular surface damage and increases pro-inflammatory cytokines in the eyes as well as tear MMP-9 and histamine release. Eyebon-W® eye wash solution seems to have a protective effect on the ocular surface damage and inflammation following airborne particulate matters exposure.
