목적 : To investigate long-term changes in prelaminar and laminar structures using repeated, highly alignment-matched optical coherence tomography (OCT) images of patients with progressive normal-tension glaucoma (NTG).
방법 : We recruited patients with progressive NTG having a set of repeated, alignment-matched optic nerve head (ONH) OCT examinations. Overlay images were generated for comprehensive measurement of neuroretinal rim (NRR) parameters, including Bruch’s membrane opening (BMO) minimum rim width, central prelaminar tissue thickness, and central and peripheral LC depth against BMO and the choroid–scleral interface (CSI) plane, respectively. A paired t-test was performed to compare the measurements. Intraocular pressure (IOP) profiles were correlated to the changes in each parameter.
결과 : We analyzed 32 patients with an average interval between OCT examinations of 5.43 ± 0.92 (4.26–7.86) years. BMO-based NRR parameters significantly decreased with time, as expected (all p < 0.001), while the average central LC depth against BMO (p = 0.278) and CSO plane (p = 0.896) did not show significant differences. No significant relationships were found between IOP and the
parameter changes.
결론 : In the eyes of patients with progressive NTG, anterior LC surface depth did not change significantly despite dramatic NRR thinning. The results suggest that at least in a subset of patients with NTG, LC posterior displacement might not precede glaucoma progression. Further larger studies with more sensitive evaluation of LC structures are warranted.
