목적 : To distinguish glaucoma from non glaucomatous retinal nerve fiber layer defect (RNFLD), the optic nerve head parameters of open angle glaucoma (OAG) and branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) with RNFLD were compared using spectral domain optical coherence tomography.
방법 : This retrospective cross-sectional study included 42 BRVO eyes with RNFLD and no retinal edema, and 42 OAG and 42 healthy control eyes who were matched with BRVO eyes in terms of age and optic disc size. Peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (pRNFLT), Bruch’s membrane opening minimum rim width (BMO-MRW) and Bruch's membrane opening minimum rim area (BMO-MRA) were analyzed. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUCs) were calculated for each parameter.
결과 : The OAG and BRVO groups had similar global pRNFLT, but thinner global pRNFLT than healthy control group (P < 0.001). Total BMO-MRA of OAG group (0.88 ± 0.12 mm2) was smaller than BRVO and healthy control groups (1.32 ± 0.19 mm2 and 1.30 ± 0.21 mm2, respectively)(P < 0.001). Global BMO-MRW was also decreased in the OAG group than in other two groups (P < 0.001). AUCs for discriminating between the OAG and BRVO was 0.986 with total BMO-MRA and 0.959 with global BMO-MRW.
결론 : In the clinical practices, the BMO-MRA may perform well as a parameter in distinguishing eyes with glaucoma from eyes with non glaucomatous RNFLD.
