목적 : To investigate the efficacy of botulinum toxin A injection without electromyographic (EMG) guidance for treatment of consecutive esotropia. 방법 : A total of 67 patients with consecutive esotropia underwent botulinum toxin A injection without EMG guidance in the medial rectus muscle (MR). Treatment was considered successful if the final ocular alignment was orthotropia or esodeviation of 10 PD or less during distant fixation. 결과 : The mean age was 15.0 ± 8.3 years. The mean amount or esodeviation before injection was 20.9 ± 9.5 PD at distance. A total 63 patients (94.0%) received less than two injections. The mean number of injections per patient was 1.3 ± 0.7 and the mean dose was 8.5 ± 2.5 IU. One-year success rate was 70.5% by Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Vertical deviation and/or ptosis occurred in 5 patients (7.4%) at 2 weeks after treatment, but all patients resolved within 3 months. 결론 : Botulinum toxin A injection without EMG guidance was effective in treating consecutive esotropia. |
