목적 : To investigate the clinical profiles and treatment outcomes of non-specific orbital inflammation (NSOI).
방법 : In this retrospective cohort study, we collected 141 patients with pathologically confirmed NSOI from 12 centers across 3 continents. Data collection included patient demographics, clinical presentation, imaging characteristics, treatment outcomes. Risk factors for recurrence after initial treatment was also analyzed.
결과 : There were 45(32%) males and 96(68%) females in the study population. The mean age at onset was 49.4 years old. The presenting signs were proptosis(55%), diplopia(42%), chemosis (40%), and pain(35%). In radiologic studies, most commonly involved anatomical structure was the lacrimal gland(60%), followed by orbital fat(41%) and extraocular muscles(20%). The most common initial treatment was oral steroid(61%). During the mean follow-up period of 16 months, one third of the patients had recurring episode, and extraocular muscle involvement was the significant risk factor for recurrence (p=0.03).
결론 : Female dominance was noted in this study population. Clinical presentations were variable, and the lacrimal gland was the most affected orbital structure. Oral steroid is still the main treatment modality for NSOI. Patients with extraocular muscle involvement were more likely to have recurrence.
