본문 : Purpose : We present a unique clinical case of bilateral isolated choroidal melanocytosis, the only Korean ever observed, as well as the only patient reported as this entity with sunset glow fundus.
Case summery : A 46-year-old woman with binocular floating sensation was referred for evaluation of unusual choroidal pigmentation. Best corrected visual acuity was 1.0/1.0 and intraocular pressure was normal bilaterally. There was no vitiligo, skin, conjunctiva, sclera pigmentation. Dilated fundus examination and wide-field color photographs showed peripheral, flat, diffuse choroidal hyperpigmentation with posterior sunset glow fundus. Both eyes showed pigmented lesions around peripheral 360° and near optic disc as well. Optical coherence tomography confirmed normal choroidal thickness. Patient had old history of uveitis 30 years ago and thyroidectomy due to thyroid cancer, but had no history of any other dermatologic or heritable systemic diseases. One year later, there were no changes in funduscopic findings. In the absence of any other sites of hyperpigmentation, our case meets the diagnostic criteria of bilateral isolated choroidal melanocytosis.
Conclusion : The authors report a rare case of bilateral isolated choroidal melanocytosis with sunset glow fundus. |
