목적 : The purpose of this study was to calculate the trabecular meshwork (TM) length to evaluate variations with age in adults. We hypothesized that TM length may change with aging.
방법 : This study randomly included 250 eyes of patients who underwent anterior segment optical coherence tomography at Yonsei University Gangnam Severance Hospital between January 2015 and June 2019. We measured the distance from the scleral spur to Schwalbe’s line in normal open angle patients by using the anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT). Results were divided to groups based on the ages of patients: ≤40, 41–50, 51–60, 61–70, 71–80, 81–92 years. This result was compared among each groups.
결과 : The mean TM length of the patients in our study was 770.9 ± 76.78 μm. TM length was 853.2±94.12 in patients aged ≤40 years (815.3±75.72, 798.1±66.04, 770.9±52.77, 726.7±63.98, 718.7±62.58 in the 41–50, 51–60, 61–70, 71–80, and 81–92year group, respectively). There was decreasing trend in TM length with increasing patient age. (P<0.001)
결론 : This study has reported TM length of Koreans by age group for the first time. TM length was significantly shorter in the older patients compared to the younger patients. This result may indicate that TM length can be changed with aging.
