| ARN with oral valtrex treatment |

Purpose : To describe a acute retinal necrosis case which was treated with oral valacyclovir in outpatient base.
Methods : Retrospectively reviewed medical record of a ARN case with valacyclovir treatment and vitrectmy.
Results : 60 year-old male patient visited to J' retinal clinic with decreased visual acuit for a week. Detailed ophthalmic examinatio revealed retinal necrosis in his left eye. He was treated with valacyclovir 3 g tid and prednisone.
Vitreous opacities developed during follow up period.
Vitrecomy was carried out to remove vitreous opacities and silicone oil tamponade and barrire laser was performed.
The retina was nicely attached.
Conclusion : Oral valacyclovir treatment can be a great option for the treatment of ARN in out patients bases in selected patients.
