본문 : Purpose: We report a case of meibomian gland hyperplasia on eyelid margin.
Case summary: A 47-year-old man without any underlying disease visited our clinic with a mass on his left lower eyelid margin. According to the patient, the mass first appeared two years ago, and the size would increase. The mass had a smooth and flesh-colored appearance and showed a well-defined multinodular lesion under the microscope. Excisional biopsy was performed for diagnosis and treatment. Histopathological examination showed hyperplasia of well-defined sebaceous lobules and confirmed the absence of vacuolated cells, comedonecrosis, and nuclear atypia, which are the characteristic features of sebaceous carcinoma.
Conclusion: There are not many cases reported on meibomian gland hyperplasia of the eyelid margin. Therefore, we would like to inform the readers that meibomian gland hyperplasia should be considered as one of the differential diagnoses of a mass on eyelid margin. |
