목적 : This study examined differences in macular thickness and contour according to degree of myopia and sex.
방법 : We selected 441 myopic eyes and assigned them to either the non-high myopia group or high myopia group based on an axial length of 25.5 mm. We measured their macular thicknesses at the fovea, inner macula, and outer macula. Additionally, thickness difference indices (TDIs) were achieved by subtracting foveal thickness from that of each macula. We then compared these profiles between males and females.
결과 : The average thicknesses of the fovea, inner macular sectors, and outer macular sectors for males were significantly higher than those for females regardless of the myopia classification. When comparing the average values of TDIs for both myopia groups, females had significantly higher values at the superior, nasal, and inferior outer macular sectors.
결론 : Males had higher average macular thicknesses at the fovea, inner macula, and outer macula. However, based on the fovea, females had higher average values in some outer macular sectors in myopic eyes. These results suggest that the contour of the macula be different between males and females.
