Purpose : To evaluate the clinical characteristics and ocular manifestations in Koreans with nevus of Ota. Methods : We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of patients who underwent removal of Ota nevus in the sclera. 58 eyes of 57 patients who underwent surgery from 2011 to 2017 were included in the study. We evaluated the results of visual acuity, autorefraction, keratometry, intraocular pressure (IOP), biometry and slit lamp examination. Results : 15 were males and 42 were females. On average, the intraocular pressure of the diseased eye was 1.3mmHg higher than that of fellow eye. In diseased eyes, there were 6 eyes with increased IOP more than 25mmHg. In healthy fellow eyes, there was no case of increased IOP exceeding 25mmHg. 32 patients of the 53 patients had higher spherical power in the diseased eye than in the healthy fellow eye. Bilateral spherical power difference was more than 1 diopter (D) in 16 out of 32 patients. In 15 patients who underwent axial length measurement, the diseased eye was 0.43mm shorter than that of fellow eye. Conclusion : Ocular hypertension associated with nevus of Ota was sometimes observed. Also, we found that eyes with Ota nevus were often less myopic than the other eyes.
