목적 : To investigate conditions which cause temporal lens opacity, we tested chemical and physical factors, such as anesthesia dose, eye dryness, and light intensity in anesthetized BL6/N mice 방법 : Mice were anesthetized with low (80%; tiletamine/zolazepam (32 mg/kg, intraperitoneal injection) and xylazine (8 mg/kg, intraperitoneal injection) or high (120%; tiletamine/zolazepam (48 mg/kg) and xylazine (12 mg/kg) doses of anesthetic and examined bilaterally every 5 min from 10 min of anesthesia to 30 min after anesthesia. Using OCT and slit-lamp biomicroscopy, we tested three different factors such as anesthesia dose, eye dryness, and light intensity to investigate relevant factors which cause temporal lens opacity and explored the reversibility of lens opacity in anesthetized BL6/N mice. 결과 : Levels of lens opacity were assessed and graded (from 0 to 5) by the standard classification system we developed for this study. Corneal dryness was significantly associated with the formation of temporal lens opacity. However, lens opacity caused by corneal dryness was not strongly influenced by anesthesia dose. Additionally, lens opacity was not strongly affected by light, suggesting that anesthesia dose and light intensity do not mainly influence the formation of lens opacity. Lens opacity in the dry ocular environment was temporary and did not become an irreversible type of cataract. 결론 : In the current study, we demonstrate that corneal dryness might be a relevant factor for the formation and progression of lens opacity in anesthetized mice. Thus, our results may help researchers to minimize the formation of lens opacity during eye phenotyping in mutant mice.
