목적 : To evaluate and characterize multiple evanescent white dot syndrome (MEWDS) patients with or without other overlapping white dot syndrome abnormalities, such as multifocal choroiditis (MFC) or acute zonal occult outer retinopathy (AZOOR).
방법 : This retrospective study evaluated demography, clinical features, and multimodal imaging including enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography, optical coherence tomography angiography, fundus autofluorescence, fundus photography, and fluorescein angiography/indocyanine green angiography.
결과 : Thirty-five MEWDS patients with a mean age of 30 years were studied. Twenty eight (80%) were women. Four patients developed overlapping MFC lesions in the affected eyes, and one developed MFC in the unaffected fellow eye. One patient developed combined MEWDS and MFC in the fellow eye during follow-up; another developed AZOOR in the fellow eye. Compared to eyes with MEWDS only, eyes with overlapping MFC had thicker choroids (337.8 vs. 205.4 um; P=0.001) at presentation, which decreased after resolution. Patients with subfoveal MFC lesions had poor visual prognosis.
결론 : A subset of MEWDS patients may develop overlapping white dot syndromes in the ipsilateral or contralateral eyes. Patients with overlapping MFC lesions presented with increased choroidal thickness, which decreased after resolution.
