Purpose : Among few special sensory organ of our body, the eye proves to be a unique and special sensory organ exhibiting diverse histologic structures. Ocular tissues contribute to lesions from inflammation to different types of neoplastic conditions. Histopathology remains the main stay of diagnosis, hence the role of histopathology is important for diagnosis and management of the patient. The study was carried out to know the histopathological diagnosis of various ocular neoplastic lesions. -To analyze the morphological and clinico-pathological aspects of ophthalmic neoplastic lesions. -To know the spectrum of prevalence of ophthalmic neoplasms in the institute. - To help in further treatment based on histopathological reports. Methods : This cross sectional study includes 139 cases of ocular neoplastic lesion, out of total 250 ocular lesions diagnosed in the Department of Pathology at Birat Medical College and Teaching Hospital, Morang, Nepal from November 2016 to December 2018. Relevant history, clinical and light microscopic findings were reviewed and descriptive analysis was done. Results : Out of 250 total specimens received, 139(55.6%) cases were neoplastic, with male to female ratio 1.1:1(Male 73, Female 66). Out of which 74 benign (53.24%) and 65 malignant (46.76%) was neoplasm. The age of patients ranged from 4 years to 82 years. Among male, 34 cases were benign and 39 cases were malignant and similarly among female 40 cases were benign and 26 cases were malignant. Nevus was the most common benign neoplasm (approximately 24%) followed by Hemangioma (approximately 21%). Squamous Cell Carcinoma was found to be the most common among malignant neoplasm. Most of the cases were from conjunctiva and cornea followed by the eyelid. Conclusion : Findings suggest that among neoplastic lesions, the most common ophthalmic malignancies were squamous cell carcinoma and nevus as benign lesion. Which in turn was beneficial for the mode of further treatment.
