목적 : To describe the clinical characteristics of cystoid macular edema(CME) developed eyes associated with cytomegalovirus(CMV) retinitis and compare them with eyes without CME.
방법 : A retrospective review of 48 patients(37 male and 11 female, 67 eyes) with CMV retinitis was performed. The demographics, serologic findings, ophthalmic presentations, ocular treatments, and visual prognosis were compared in terms of presence of CME. Univariate ordinal logistic regression analyses were conducted.
결과 : Two groups were identified by CME: CME group(23 eyes of 17 patients) vs. non-CME group(44 eyes of 31 patients). BCVA was worse(p<0.001) in CME group(1.59±1.51) than non-CME group(0.75±1.11). Peak CMV concentration was lower in CME group(4.02±1.62) than non-CME group(4.14±1.26). Duration of viremia(p=0.08) was not different. Number of intravitreal ganciclovir injection was higher(p<0.001) in CME group(12.65±12.19) than non-CME group(5.75±8.86). Development of CME(OR=4.49), higher peak CMV(OR=1.17), and larger GCV injection(OR=1.05) was associated with deterioration of final visual acuity.
결론 : When CME develops, eyes with CMV retinitis showed deterioration of visual acuity. Final visual acuity was worse with higher CMV concentration. Larger number of ganciclovir injection was associated with the development of CME and worse visual acuity outcome in eyes with CMV retinitis.
