본문 : Objectives: Pseudoexfoliation (PEX) syndrome is the most common identifiable cause of open-angle glaucoma. It is very important to diagnose PEX syndrome without missing a PXE deposition. Here we aimed to show atypical patterns of PEX material deposition.
Methods and Methods: This is an observational case series study. 20 eyes of 20 cases with PEX were evaluated by slit-lamp examination. Findings associated with PEX were recorded.
Results: In some phakic eyes, PXE material was deposited in the pupillary margin without typical pupil atrophy or pupillary ruff loss, and various atypical patterns of PXE deposit were observed on the anterior lens surface. After cataract surgery, various pattern of PXE deposit were observed in the intraocular lens surface, anterior capsule, posterior capsule, and anterior hyaloid membrane.
Conclusion: PXE material is deposited in various atypical patterns in phakic or pseudophakic eye. To reduce the clinical underdiagnosis of PXE, it is important for clinicians to know the various atypical deposit patterns of PEX material. |
