Purpose : To evaluate ocular lesions and anatomo-histopathologic features in lacrimal gland lymphoid hyperplasia ( LGLH)
Methods : a prospective cross-sectional study on 36 patients with 40 eyes examined at VNIO during the period 2011-2012.
Results : mean age 56, male is dominated( 52%), main clinical signs cited as: ptosis and eye lid oedema( 50%), tumour palpation( 36%), ptosis(39%), most tumors located on superior temporal of orbit( 97%). CT scan using contrast substance and evaluation of orbital structure are very important tools for help to diagnose, LGLH has some characteristics such as: mass effect mixed of hyper and hypo density( 88%), poor defined limitation of lesions( 90%), infiltrates to superior and medial rectus muscles as well as lacrimal glands(97%), no bone erosion. Main feature of anatomo-histopathologic study has shown: a normal lymph node architecture, a dense infiltration of small lymphocytes with the formation of reactive lymphoid follicles, the germinal centers were observed.
Conclusion : LGLH has various signs and diversity of symptoms, among those anatomo-histopathologic exam is exclusive tool to diagnose and guide therapy.
