목적 : To investigate whether a transconjunctival approach surgery cause meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) in patients with inferior orbital wall fracture 방법 : Twenty consecutive patients who had underwent a reconstruction surgery for unilateral inferior orbital wall fracture via transconjunctival approach were enrolled in this study. All subjects were asked to complete the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire for each eyelid separately. Both eyelids of each patients underwent slit lamp examination to check lid margins abnormality score. The structure of meibomian gland was assessed using the meibography. Intraindividual comparison of outcome measurements between both eyelids was performed using Wilcoxon signed-rank test. 결과 : The mean OSDI score of the operated eyelid was 46.5 ± 8.9, which was significantly higher than that of the contralateral normal eyelids (23.4 ± 7.3; p = 0.02). Lid margin abnormality score of the operated eyelid (1.2 ± 0.7) was higher than that of normal eyelids(0.5 ± 0.7; p= 0.033). Meibography scores of the eyelids of a operated side (1.8 ± 0.8) were higher than that of contralateral eyelids (1.0 ± 1.0; p=0.015). 결론 : Compared to paired normal eyelids, the eyelids which underwent transconjunctival approach surgery exhibited significant signs of MGD. Clinicians should pay attention to deal with ocular symptom in such patients after the transconjunctival approach surgery.
