본문 : Purpose: The effect of intravitreal or posterior subtenon injection of triamcinolone acetonide (TA) for macular edema is well known. However, this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of intracameral injection of TA, which seems to be more familiar to cataract surgeon, on macular edema before or after cataract surgery. Methods: Intracameral injection of TA was performed at the end of cataract surgery in patients with macular edema before cataract surgery. We also performed intracameral injection of TA to treat macular edema in pseudophakic eyes. Results: In the patient having intracameral injection of TA with cataract surgery, central macular thickness decreased from 351 μm to 272 μm at 1 month after cataract surgery. The best corrected visual acuity improved from 20/200 to 20/40 after cataract surgery. In the patient who had secondary intraocular lens implantation using retropupillary fixation of iris claw intraocular lens, the central macular thickness was 370um before the intracameral injection, but it was decreased to 290um at 1 month postoperatively. There was no significant change in intraocular pressure and corneal endothelium in all patients. Conclusion: Intracameral injection of TA seems to be more familiar to cataract surgeon and an effective treatment for macular edema in pseudophakic eyes
