| 본문 : Background
Capillary hemangioma are common lesion of the orbit that can be confused with fat on imaging studies when it become degenerated and fatty involution. Regression of tumors following of spontaneous observation.
Case presentation
We preset the case of 5-year-old girl who was born prematurity, complaining of proptosis. Through ultrasound there was retrobulbar hemorrhage. The lesion, first described as an hyperdense area compared to the surrounding tissues , suggestive for vascular structures. She was diagnosed with capillary hemangioma. She was treated with oral propranolol for 2 years during her follow up and the proptosis is slightly improved and the patient still has severe proptosis. Then her parent come to the clinic for surgery to resolve proptosis. Through CT scan she has involuted hemangioma with fatty degeneration in the right orbit. After the surgery her severe proptosis was resolved.
Surgical removal of capillary hemagioma is difficult and cause a lot bleeding during the operation. However, after diagnose degenerated capillary hemangioma through CT scan and MRI, it can be surgically removed successfully by reduced bleeding risk. And surgical treatment can resolve symptoms and proptosis successfully.
