목적 : To evaluate the clinical characteristics of patients with thyroid eye disease (TED) who present diplopia as the initial presentation of thyroid disorder.
방법 : The medical records of patients with strabismus and diplopia who visited our clinic between January 2017 and July 2018 were retrospectively reviewed. Among these, patients who diagnosed with TED were included in analyses.
결과 : Thirteen consecutive patients (7 males, 6 females) were included. The mean age of presentation was 53.4 years (range, 17-78). The presented strabismus included hypotropia (10 patients, 76.9%), esotropia (1 patient, 7.7%), exotropia with hypotropia (1 patient, 7.7%), and bilateral upgaze limitation (1 patient, 7.7%). The enlargement of extraocular muscles were confirmed in 10 patients using imaging study. The hyperthyrodism was most common type of thyroid disorder (8 patients, 61.5%). Two patients showed positive result of the anti-acetylcholine receptor antibody in serologic test.
결론 : There was no gender difference in patients with TED who present the diplopia as an initial presentation of thyroid disorder. Two-thirds of patients had hyperthyrodism. The hypotropia was most common type of strabismus, however, various type of strabismus can present associated with TED.
