목적 : To evaluate the prevalence of IRC before surgery and assess the change of IRCs after surgery in patients with idiopathic ERM.
방법 : The records of 47 eyes of 47 consecutive patients who underwent pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling and phacoemulsification with IOL implantation to remove ERM and cataract from January 2015 to December 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. We then evaluated the prevalence of IRCs before surgery and changes of IRCs at final follow-up after surgery. We analyzed the relationship between visual acuity and the presence of IRCs.
결과 : Pre-operative IRCs occurred in 30% of patients with ERM combined with cataract (14/47) and the IRCs persisted after surgery in 50% of them (7/14), which’s best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 0.33 ± 0.28 logMAR at final follow-up. On the other hand, Post-operative IRCs occurred in 9.1% of patients without cystic lesions before surgery (3/33), but there was not difference in the final BCVA whether or not the presence of IRCs (0.16 ± 0.20 logMAR (30/33) and 0.18 ± 0.20 logMAR (3/33), respectively).
결론 : Pre-operative IRCs are more likely to occur when the ERM becomes more chronic. Many of these IRCs may remain after surgery, and in this case, final visual prognosis can be not favorable.
