목적 : To estimate the weight change of the intraocular lens (IOL) according to the type of the material during the incubation period, comparing with the weight of human crystalline lens. 방법 : This study compared the weight of IOL in according to type of material (Hydrophobic vs Hydrophilic). We have analyzed the change in the weight of IOL depending on the duration of incubation period that the environment is similar to the intraocular condition. We also measured the weight of the human lens which were excised from the donor eye, and analyzed the correlation of lens weight with age. 결과 : Our study found the weight of the IOL was much lighter than human crystalline lens. (p<0.0001, Mann-Whitney Test). And we demonstrated moderate positive linear relationship between age and weight of the lens. There was a difference between the average weight of the Hydrophilic IOL and that of the hydrophobic IOL. Hydrophilic IOL(CLARE®. Cristalens, Eragny, France) was statistically significantly heavier than Hydrophobic IOLs(p=0.006). There was no statistically significant difference in the weight change of the IOL in accordance with the incubation period. 결론 : Our study found the weight of the IOL was much lighter than that of the human crystalline lens.(p<0.05) And we demonstrated moderate positive linear relationship between age and weight of the human lens. There was no statistically significant difference in the weight change of the IOL in accordance with the incubation period.
