본문 : Purpose: To report cases of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) developing after surgery for proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
Methods: Medical records of three patients (three eyes) with CNV after pars plana vitrectomy and removal of proliferative membranes for complicated proliferative diabetic retinopathy were reviewed retrospectively.
Results: Choroidal neovascularization developed 3 to 10 months after surgery. The CNV lesion involved the fovea in one eye and the juxtafovea in two eyes, and predominantly classic CNV was noted in two eyes. Repeated intravitreal injections of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor drugs were performed in all eyes, but final visual outcomes were poor (< 20/200) despite the regression of CNV.
Conclusions: The development of CNV is a possible complication of surgery for proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injection may be useful to induce CNV regression, but not lead to visual improvement. |
