본문 : Purpose: To report a case of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) due to endogenous candida endophthalmitis treated with intravitreal injection of bevacizumab.
Case Reports: A 55-year-old man presented with distorted and decreased vision in his right eye. He underwent pars plana vitrectomy combined with intravitreal amphotericin B injection in the right eye for endogenous candida endophthalmitis three years ago. Dilated fundus examination, fluorescein angiography, and optical coherence tomography confirmed the presence of CNV in the right eye. The CNV developed in a chorioretinal scar as a consequence of endogenous candida endophthalmitis. There was no evidence of intraocular inflammation. Repeated intravitreal injections of bevacizumab were given in his right eye. After three consecutive monthly injections, visual acuity was improved from 20/1000 to 20/200, which remained stable on follow-up more than two years later.
Conclusions: Choroidal neovascularization can be presented as a complication of endogenous candida endophthalmitis. Intravitreal injection of bevacizumab seems to be safe and effective for the treatment of CNV secondary to endogenous candida endophthalmitis. |
