목적 : To determine the relationship between open angle glaucoma (OAG) and stroke in the Korean population.
방법 : This was a population-based, cross-sectional study. From the fifth (2010-2012) Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES), 11959 participants over 40 years old were included. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were performed to determine risk factors, including OAG, associated with stroke. Additionally, we estimated the multivariate adjusted odds ratios (aOR) of stroke for the OAG group compared with the non-OAG group, stratified by hypertension and diabetes.
결과 : In stroke patients, we observed a prevalence of 8.5% for OAG, which showed significantly higher than that in the non-stroke group. After adjusting for selected risk factors, the presence of OAG tended to be associated with stroke(OR,1.629; p=0.053) but the result was not statistically significant. In stratified analyses, there were significant associations of OAG and stroke in subjects with hypertension and in subjects with diabetes(OR,2.059; p=0.011 and OR, 2.649; p=0.040). The association of stroke and other systemic diseases were increased when the OAG was combined with other comorbidities
결론 : Patients with OAG are at increased risk of stroke, especially in the patient with other systemic comorbidities including hypertension or diabetes. Our results may provide insights of the underlying mechanisms of OAG and their associations with stroke development.
