목적 : To evaluate the change in superficial and deep foveal avascular zone of diabetic patients by using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
방법 : 77 eyes of 52 patients who had undergone OCTA of macular area were included. Patients were divided into three groups for analysis; diabetic patients with central macular edema, diabetic patients without central macular edema, and normal controls.Swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography within 3 x 3 mm zone of macula was performed. Additional ophthalmologic examinations including color fundus photography and spectral domain optical coherence tomography were done. By using commercially available ImageJ software, superficial and deep foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area was measured.
결과 : Mean superficial FAZ (sFAZ) area was 0.417 for diabetic patients and 0.383 for normal controls and it showed no significant difference (p=0.370). However, mean value of deep FAZ (dFAZ) area was significantly large in diabetic patients compared to normal controls (0.700 and 0.443 respectively, p=0.000). Whereas mean dFAZ area was larger in patients with macular edema than without macular edema (0.844 and 0.636 respectively, p=0.000), sFAZ showed no significant differences (p=0.470).
결론 : Ischemic damage to retinal microvasculature in diabetic patients occurs significantly in deeper retina. OCTA is advantageous in detecting such early structural changes clearly.
