목적 : To describe the response to photodynamic therapy (PDT) in polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) patients refractory to intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) injections.
방법 : Retrospective review of PCV patients who underwent PDT after being non-responsive to intravitreal anti-VEGF injections.
결과 : Among 66 PCV patients non-responsive to prior anti-VEGF injections, effective treatment response to PDT appeared in 84.8% one month post-treatment, and treatment remained effective in 73.7% of the eyes up to 1 year. Best corrected visual acuity were maintained or improved in 66.1 % of the eyes. When analyzing the anatomic characteristics with OCT findings (i.e. subretinal fluid (SRF), intraretinal fluid (IRF), pigment epithelial detachment (PED)), SRF showed the most dramatic decrease, while those with extensive IRF were the least responsive to PDT.
결론 : In PCV patients refractory to anti-VEGF treatments, photodynamic therapy may be an effective alternative treatment option.
