목적 : To compare the long-term results of augmented unilateral lateral rectus recession-medial rectus resection procedure (RR) in exotropia children with original surgery.
방법 : A total of 121 children with exotropia who underwent RR based on the largest angle measured at distance or near were included. In 57 patients, amount of medial rectus muscle resection was increased by 1 mm. All patients were followed up for more than 2 years. Final success rates, stereopsis, and factors related to recurrence and overcorrection were evaluated.
결과 : Recurrence rate was significantly lower in augmented RR group than in original RR group, whereas overcorrection rate was not significantly different between two groups at postoperative 2-year follow-up (P = .036 and P = .153, respectively). This result sustained to postoperative 3-year follow-up, with higher statistical power (P = .019 and P = .180, respectively). The cumulative probability of surgical success were higher in the augmented group at 36 months after surgery (P = .046, log rank test).
결론 : The long-term success rate of augmented RR in exotropia children was 79.0% and the recurrence rate was significantly lower than original RR with comparable over-correction rate. Augmented RR can be considered as good alternative procedure in children with basic and convergence insufficiency type exotropia.
