목적 : To compare the characteristics of patients with overcorrected intermittent exotropia benefiting from and refractory to alternate patch treatment.
방법 : The medical records of 45 patients who had undergone surgery for intermittent exotropia from February 2005 to May 2016, and had alternate patching for the treatment of esodeviation ≥ 10 prism diopters (PD) after postoperative 2 weeks. Patients refractory to treatment were defined as those with esodeviation ≥ 10 PD after 3 months of treatment. Gender, family history, ages, refractive errors, amblyopia, stereopsis, suppression, type of exotropia, surgical method, preoperative and postoperative angle of deviation, and start time of alternate patching were compared.
결과 : 21 responded to alternate patching and 25 were refractory. The percentage of women was significantly higher in the responsive group. Although postoperative angle of deviation was similar in the two groups for 1 month postoperatively, the angles of esodeviation were larger in the refractory group, beginning at 2 months. Postoperative deviation recovered nearly to orthotropia at 2 months after surgery in the responsive group.
결론 : Female, large esodeviation 2 months after treatment predisposed patients refractory to alternate patching for overcorrection.
