목적 : To document recovery time of stabilization in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and central foveal thickness(CFT) after epiretinal membrane (ERM) peeling.
방법 : We prospectively selected 57 idiopathic ERM patients with cataract. They underwent phacovitrectomy with posterior capsulotomy and were monitored for 12 months. Patients with additional conditions disturbing foveal function other than ERM were excluded. All eyes underwent examinations before surgery and at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after surgery. Relationships of final visual outcome, including BCVA, and CFT were statistically analyzed.
결과 : Mean BCVA was analyzed by paired sample t-test (p<0.05) and significant changes were observed from preoperative (0.30 logMAR) to 1 month and 6 months follow-up (0.22 logMAR, 0.10 logMAR, respectively) and reached a plateau at 6 month. Mean CFT had statistically significant reduction from preoperatively to at 12 months follow-up (444µm and 387µm, respectively) (p<0.05).
결론 : BCVA change was stopped at 6 month and maintained by 12 month. Significant reduction of CFT was observed by 12 months. In conclusion, postoperative follow-up of 6 months may be sufficient to reach the final BCVA after surgery and longer follow-up time may be needed to achieve the final CFT.
