목적 : Selective Retina Therapy (SRT) stimulates retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cell migration and proliferation into irradiated areas. The objective of this study was to provide 1-year results of SRT for clinically significant diabetic macular edema (DME) in Korean patients. 방법 : Prospective nonrandomized interventional case series study. Twenty-three eyes of 21 patients with clinically significant DME were treated with SRT and followed for 12 months. Patients underwent a best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) evaluation in Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) letters. Microperimetry was employed to measure the macular sensitivity within the central 10° field, and the central macular thickness (CMT) and maximum macular thickness (MMT) were measured. Patients were considered for retreatment or rescue anti-VEGF injections at 6 months if ME had not improved. 결과 : BCVA did not significantly improve at 12 months although BCVA at 6 months significantly improved. Although change in CMT did not demonstrate a significant change at two-time points ( all P>0.05), MMT decreased from 446.7 ± 78.4μm to 423.5 ± 76.5μm , 408.5± 59.6 at 6months, 12 months (all P<0.05) and mean macular sensitivity increased from 21.5 ± 3.1db to 22.9 ± 2.4 db, 23.2 ± 2.5 db respectively.(P=0.009, P=0.001). Five patients required rescue anti-VEGF injections. No adverse effects from SRT were recorded. 결론 : The gains in BCVA and improvement in macular sensitivity demonstrated that SRT treatment can be effective and safe in Korean patients with clinically significant DME. The SRT laser can be effective in treating edema of mild to moderate severity.
