목적 : To evaluate the diagnostic ability of a novel screening modality, the triple humps (TH) sign, for the prediction of intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering efficacy of laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) in eyes with asymptomatic narrow angle.
방법 : The study was cross-sectional and conducted in a hospital setting from 2010 to 2015. Eighty-four (84) eyes of 84 individuals with primary angle-closure suspect were imaged using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) before and 1 month after LPI. The positive-TH sign was defined as the angulation among the central anterior surface of crystalline lens and the posterior margins of iris pigment epithelium in AS-OCT images. After LPI, the amount of IOP reduction was compared between groups with and without TH sign.
결과 : The eyes with positive-TH sign did not differ significantly from those with negative-TH sign in terms of pre-LPI IOP (P=0.200). In the positive-TH sign group, IOP had decreased significantly after LPI (by 1.19±2.62 mmHg: from 14.07±3.11 mmHg to 12.88±2.65 mmHg; P=0.002). Interestingly, in the negative-TH sign group, IOP had not changed significantly after LPI, having only increased by 0.29±3.27 mmHg (from 13.23±2.42 mmHg to 13.52±3.01 mmHg; P=0.624).
