본문 : To report case of orbital tumor causing oncogenic osteomalacia.
We performed retrospective chart review about one patient with orbital tumor(glomangiopericytoma) causing oncogenic osteomalacia and report surgical interventions and procedure outcome.
Case was a 42 year old female, who had presented ocular pain. She had suffered arthralgia, fatigue, muscle weakness and frequent nasal bleeding. Multiple fractures were found at bone scan. And she was diagnosed as glomangiopericytoma on histopathological and immunohistochemistry findings. She has orbital mass on her right orbit and frontal sinus. We performed the mass removal anteromedially several times. After she had received an orbitotomy, hypocalcemia and hypophosphatemia return to normal. Postoperatively, the patient’s ocular and back pain was relieved.
Glomangiopericytoma is very rare sinonasal tumor and phosphaturic mesenchymal tumors causing oncogenic osteomalacia especially hypophosphatemia. The patient has lytic bony lesions, long-standing bone pain. Serum FGF23 is abnormally elevated. The treatment is local excision of tumor and oral replacement of phosphorus and high-dose vitamin D. This is the only case of glomangiopericytoma arising from maxillary sinus causing oncogenic osteomalacia . |
