목적 : To investigate the effect of multiple intravitreal injections of ranibizumab or aflibercept on retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness and intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with exudative age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
방법 : This retrospective study includes 41 eyes with 41 patients treated with intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR) and 23 eyes with 23 patients with intravitreal aflibercept (IVA) who had RNFL analysis at the initial and 12 month follow-up by using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography. The RNFL thickness values of the fellow eyes not requiring treatment were used as the control group. The mean global RNFL thickness of each of the injection groups was compared with that of the control group. At each visit, the IOP values of the study group were recorded and compared.
결과 : The global RNFL thickness of the IVR group was 100.0 ± 16.2 μm at baseline and 95.4 ±14.3 μm at the last follow-up (P=0.006), while that of the IVA group was 96.5 ±15.1 μm at baseline and 103.5 ±22.0 μm at the last follow-up (P=0.944). In the IVR group, there was a significant decrement in global RNFL thickness (P=0.006) after 12 months, whereas no significant difference was found between the values at baseline and 12 months of follow-up in the IVA group.
There was no significant difference between the initial and final IOPs in IVR (P=0.346) and IVA (P=0.133) groups.
결론 : After a 12-month follow-up, a significant decrement in peripapillary RNFL thickness was noted in the IVR group, whereas no differences were found in the IVA group after multiple intravitreal injections. In both groups, IOP did not change significantly after multiple intravitreal injections.
