본문 : Purpose: To report the clinical outcomes of refractive corneal inlay implantation in 2 patients
Methods: Presbia microlens was implanted in the non-dominant eyes of two female patients who wanted to correct presbyopia. The corneal pocket creation with femtosecond laser and Presbia microlens implantation was performed. Refraction, monocular and binocular uncorrected visual acuity (near, intermediate and distance), higher-order aberrations were measured. Also contrast sensitivity, anterior segment optical coherence tomography were performed preoperatively and at postoperative 6months. And corneal nerves were analyzed with confocal microscopy, and dry eye evaluation was done by measuring tear break-up time, Schirmer test and corneal staining score.
Results: Postoperative uncorrected near and intermediate visual acuity of non-dominant eye were better than preoperative values. Postoperative binocular uncorrected distance visual acuity was 0 logMAR in both patients and binocular uncorrected near visual acuity was 0.2 logMAR and 0.1 logMAR, respectively. Binocular defocus curve also showed two peaks, as well as a wider range of good visual acuity. Subbasal corneal nerve density measured with confocal microscopy was slightly decreased in both cases. However, postoperative results of tear break-up time, Schirmer test and Oxford staining score were not significantly difference compared to preoperative values.
Conclusion: The refractive corneal inlay is a safe, simple, and efficient method for correcting near visual acuity in emmetropic patients who have presbyopia
