목적 : To analysis the retinal vessel diameter and evaluate the relationship with the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in patients with unilateral normal tension glaucoma. 방법 : This study included 37 patients with unilateral NTG and 42 age & sex-matched healthy controls that had no history of systemic vascular disease such as hypertension, diabetes, etc. Unilateral NTG patients were selected based on unilateral visual field defect from the Humphrey central 30-2 threshold test and reviewed their records. The diameters of the central retinal arteries and veins were measured using computer-assisted calculation program (IVAN). The RNFL thickness was measured using Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). 결과 : The mean central retinal arteriolar diameter was significantly smaller both in the glaucomatous eye and their fellow eye in the unilateral NTG patients than in the normal subjects. (P<0.001) The mean central retinal venular diameter was significantly smaller only in the glaucomatous eye in the unilateral NTG patients than in the normal subjects. (p=0.013) Multivariate linear regression analysis demonstrated that there were no significant correlation between several variables and RNFL thickness among all groups 결론 : Both glaucomatous eyes and their fellow eyes in the unilateral normal tension glaucoma patients had smaller central retinal arteriolar diameters than the normal subjects. Our results suggest that diameter of the central retinal vessels may affect the development of glaucoma both in affected and fellow eye in the unilateral normal tension glaucoma, or that glaucomatous damage may influence the diameter of the central retinal vessels.
