목적 : To determine the prevalence of open-angle glaucoma, ocular hypertension in thyroid associated orbitopathy.(TAO)
방법 : In this cross-sectional analytic study, 1,128 patients with thyroid associated orbitopathy who visited Yonsei University College of Medicine between January 2011 and December 2014 were recruited. Complete ophthalmic examination, intraocular pressure with GAT, optic disc photography, visual field with Humphrey visual field analyzer, and RNFL thickness measurement with optical coherence tomography were performed.
결과 : A 6.8% prevalence of ocular hypertension (77 patients) and a 1.6% prevalence of glaucoma (18 patients) was observed. Twenty nine of 1,128 patients(2.6%) developed compressive optic neuropathy; high intraocular pressure was detected in 10 of them(0.9%). Mean clinical activity score was 2.5 in ocular hypertension and 2.8 in glaucoma patients. Proptosis by Hertel exopthalmometry(mean,mm) was 18.5 and 17.7 in ocular hypertension and glaucoma. The prevalence of restrictive myopathy was 75.3%(58/77) in ocular hypertension, 50%(9/18) in glaucoma.
결론 : The prevalence of glaucoma in thyroid associated orbitopathy was a only a small rate by 1.6 percent and it was not significantly higher than in the general population.
