본문 : Purpose
To report of a long term follow up result of OZURDEX® (dexamethasone intravitreal implant) injection in a patient with recurrent ocular Behcet attack.
Case Report
A 26-year-old woman came to clinic who suffered from ocular Behcet attack twice on her right eye. The first attack was 2 years ago and she received intravitreal Avastin® (bevacizumab) injection at 3rd day of presentation then. Although she had presented substantial clinical improvements afterward, she underwent the second ocular Behcet attack 8 months after the initial attack. Her visual acuity dropped from 0.6 to 0.05 and central foveal thickness increased from 128 um to 317 um. Intravitreal OZURDEX® injection was performed after 2 days of the second attack. Every clinical parameter, such as visual acuity, central foveal thickness and total macular volume, has shown gradual recovery and stable course for 17 months of follow up period after the OZURDEX® injection. The visual acuity at final follow up was 0.8, central foveal thickness and total macular volume were 220um and 7.95ul respectively.
Conclusions
This case demonstrates that prompt and timely intervention with OZURDEX® (dexamethasone intravitreal implant) injection can be an useful rescue treatment with the reliable long term efficacy in a patient with recurrent ocular Behcet attack.
