목적 : To evaluate the risk of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) patients.
방법 : The Korean national health claims database was analyzed to identify patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). The control group was composed of randomly selected patients who were matched 5 per patient with DM according to age, sex, household income, residential area, and underlying diseases including hypertension, dyslipidemia, coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, and thyroid disease. Cox proportional hazard regressions were used to calculate the overall rate for development of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) before and after adjusting for confounding factors.
결과 : POAG developed in 3.19% of the DM group and in 1.66% in the control group. DM was associated with an increased risk of POAG development (hazard ratio, 1.982; 95% confidence interval, 1.766-2.226) after adjusting for age, sex, household income, and potential confounders.
결론 : Type 2 DM was significantly associated with development of POAG after adjusting for potential confounders.
