본문 : Ectopia lentis refers to displacement of the lens from its normal position. The lens may be completely dislocated, rendering the eye functionally aphakic (luxated), or partially displaced, remaining in the pupillary area (subluxated). Ectopia lentis may be hereditary or acquired. Familial ectopia lentis and ectopia lentis et pupillae are without systemic associations. We report a case of visual acuity recovery after surgical treatment in a pediatric patient with a family history of bilateral ectopia lentis. A 6-year-old girl with a familial history of ectopia lentis visited our clinic for examination purposes. On initial visit, she was diagnosed with bilateral lens subluxation. Initial visual acuity was 20/50 in both eyes. Lens subluxation increased during the follow-up period, and thus we elected to perform surgery. Pars plana vitrectomy, lensectomy, membrane peeling, endolaser, and intraocular lens scleral fixation were performed on both eyes. Targeted power of the intraocular lens was aimed at emmetropia. Visual acuity improved to 20/20 on both eyes and maintained for 1 year of last follow-up.If the optic nerve is unaffected, a good prognosis is possible in pediatric patients with lens subluxation. Surgical treatment should be considered when lens subluxation increases during follow-up.
