목적 : To examine the relationship between retinal sensitivity and morphologic changes in the macular area of eyes with diabetic macular edema (DME).
방법 : We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of the 19 consecutive patients (23 eyes) with DME. Using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography, a 6 X 6 mm area of each macula was examined with sequential horizontal scans. Best corrected visual acuity, macular sensitivity, and macular thickness of all included eyes were examed and quantified. Macular sensitivity and retinal fixation were investigated with the CenterVue Macular Integrity Assessment (MAIA; CenterVue, Padova, Italy)
결과 : Macular thickness significantly increased and macular sensitivity markedly decreased, it showed an inversed association (P < 0.01). The correlations were noted between retinal sensitivity and macular thickness as well as between visual acuity and macular thickness. (r = -0.32, P < 0.05; r = 0.72, P < 0.05). , but retinal fixation was not significantly different.
결론 : Patients have retinal morphologic and functional changes in DME, both of which are significantly related as the disease develops. Microperimetry proved to be consistent with VA in the evaluation of visual function, and may be more sensitive to investigate the changes of macular visual function in diabetic macular edema.
