목적 : To evaluate the short term clinical course of visual acuity and foveal thickness in the idiopathic epiretinal membrane (ERM) after air vs. no tamponade pars plana vitrecomy (PPV) combined with phacoemulsification.
방법 : Retrospective review of 80 patients (80eyes) with ERM who underwent PPV combined with phacoemulsification from 2013-2014. Visual acuity and foveal thickness from optical coherence tomography imaging were obtained preoperatively and at every postoperative follow-up visit in two groups.
결과 : A total of 80 eyes of 80 patients were evaluated (air tamponade=48 eyes, no tamponade=32 eyes). No statistically significant difference in LogMAR visual acuity outcomes were observed in both groups at postoperative week 1(air=0.65,no=0.44,P=0.07), week 2(air=0.52,no=0.46,P=0.88), week 3 (air=0.65,no=0.46,P=0.235), 1month(air=0.36,no=0.29,P=0.39), 2 month(air=0.37,no=0.28,P=0.22), and 3 month(air=0.30,no=0.28,P=0.40), respectively. Foveal thickness decreased significantly after surgery and, there was no significant difference in foveal thickness between two groups at every follow-up visit.
결론 : In the idiopathic epiretinal membrane, equivalent visual acuity and foveal thickness were observed from postoperative week 1 to 3 month for both air tamponade and no tamponade groups after PPV.
