목적 : To investigate the repeatability of measuring retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thickness at both the macular and peripapillary areas with swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) by automated segmentation in non-diabetic controls and patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR) with or without diabetic macular oedema (DME).
방법 : One hundred thirty-one eyes of 131 participants (51 DME[-] 45 DME[+], and 35 healthy controls) were studied. RNFL and full retinal thickness measurements were performed with SS-OCT in the peripapillary area and nine Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) subfields simultaneously using the wide three-dimensional (3D) mode. Two repeated measurements were performed on the same day by a single examiner to test intra-observer repeatability. The intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) and coefficients of repeatability were analysed to evaluate repeatability.
결과 : The average macular RNFL and temporal peripapillary RNFL thicknesses were greater in the DME(+) group (36.4±13.2 µm and 83.8±19.4 µm, respectively) than in the control (27.4±3.5 µm and 73.5±11.4 µm, respectively) and DME(-) groups (27.9±3.4 µm and 70.3±11.3 µm, respectively; both P<0.001). The ICCs of the average macular and peripapillary RNFL thicknesses showed good repeatability in the three groups (0.982 and 0.972 in controls, 0.912 and 0.973 in DME[-], 0.958 and 0.970 in DME[+], respectively).
결론 : Although the ICCs of average RNFL thickness were relatively lower in diabetic retinopathy patients compared with the controls, the intra-observer repeatability of SS-OCT measurements of the RNFL and full retinal thickness was sufficiently reliable to be clinically useful.
