목적 : To evaluate the circumpapillary retinal nerve fiber and macular layer in the retinal segments without visual field (VF) loss in young myopic eyes that have optic disc torsion (ODT) and localized VF defects confined to one hemifield with spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT).
방법 : Sixty nine young myopic Korean subjects with ODT and localized VF defects confined to one hemifield and 70 age- and refractive error-matched control subjects without ODT underwent cRNFL and GCIPL imaging with Cirrus SD-OCT. We compared cRNFL and GCIPL thickness parameters in retinal segments without VF defects with those in segments with VF defects and with those in matched segments of myopic controls. Linear regression analyses were performed between the cRNFL and GCIPL thickness parameters of both segments with Humphrey field analyzer (HFA) indices.
결과 : The mean cRNFL and GCIPL thickness parameters in the hemiretinas without VF defects in the eyes with ODT were 99.9 ± 14.1 and 74.7 ± 6.7 m, significantly lower than in the matched hemiretinas of the control group (105.1±14.8 and 77.7 ± 6.0 m; p = 0.041 and 0.005) but significantly higher than in the hemiretinas with corresponding VF defects in eyes with ODT(73.2 ± 12.2 and 67.5 ± 8.0 m; p < 0.001 both). For each hemiretina with or without VF loss in eyes with ODT, statistically significant correlations were observed between cRNFL thickness parameters and HFA indices(p<0.05).
결론 : Perimetrically normal hemifields of eyes with ODT showed significantly lower cRNFL and GCIPL thickness parameters than the corresponding retinal regions of control eyes. Despite localized hemifield VF defects, myopic eyes with ODT have both circumpapillary and macula structural changes in both hemiretinas.
