본문 : We report herein the biometric and long-term refractive changes before and after argon laser photocoagulation in a patient with persistent traumatic hypotony. A 36-year-old man had a history of blunt right ocular trauma due to a baseball 5 months previously. The intraocular pressure (IOP) in the right eye was 5 mmHg. Gonioscopic examination revealed cyclodialysis. He diagnosed with persistent traumatic hypotony. The degree of myopia and astigmatism gradually changed. His refraction was –4.0 + –1.75 × 175° on day 18 post injury, –5.0 + –2.75 × 176° on day 31, and –2.50 + –5.25 × 176° on day 159. Seven months after argon laser treatment, the IOP in the right eye remained within the normal range without medication. The spherical equivalent of the refraction had decreased to –0.25 diopter. The axial length and vitreous cavity length were longer, the anterior chamber was deeper, and the lens was thinner than before the argon laser treatment. In conclusion, we have reported the changes in biometric measurements after trauma-induced persistent hypotony and the gradual changes in refraction during a period of persistent hypotony. For the first time, we showed that significant with-the-rule astigmatism gradually developed during the period of persistent traumatic hypotony. |
