본문 : This is a case report of a 32-year-old male who underwent small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) procedure complicated by difficult lenticule extraction. The patient then underwent two flap lifts, epithelial scrapings and sutures, with recurrence of epithelial ingrowth despite these interventions. The patient finally underwent another epithelial scraping, followed by hydrogyl ocular sealant placement without suture. At two-month follow up, the placement of hydrogyl ocular sealant after epithelial scraping prevented recurrence of epithelial ingrowth and reduced corneal haze. The patient was also found to have undiagnosed diabetes, suggesting that just as in LASIK, diabetes may be a risk factor for epithelial ingrowth after SMILE. Hydrogel ocular sealant may be effective after SMILE to prevent epithelial ingrowth into the interface. |
