목적 : To investigate surgical effect of adjusted Kestenbaum surgery in patients with idiopathic infantile nystagmus who had both strabismus and abnormal head posture (AHP).
방법 : In a retrospective study, 12 patients who consecutively underwent treatment in our institution between 1996 and 2014 were investigated. For all patients, surgery aimed to correct a horizontal face turn and strabismus (eso or exotropia) simultaneously
결과 : All patients had jerky nystagmus with compensatory face turn. Among 12 patients, 8 patients were exotropes and 4 patients were esotropes. Mean age at surgery was 12.5 ± 10.7 years (range, 2-36). Mean postoperative follow-up was 17.8 ± 12.0 months (range, 7-43 months). Surgery was successful in 8 (66.7%) of 12 patients. Improvement of AHP was satisfactory in all patients, but angle of deviation was failed to achieve within 10Δ in 4 patients.
결론 : Tailored adjusted Kestenbaum surgery can improve both ocular misalignment and AHP simulatenously with one-stage surgery.
